Measured on 80 real contracts
We ran 80 contracts from CUAD, a public dataset of commercial contracts labelled by lawyers, four questions each (320 answers):
| Agreed with the lawyers | Cost | |
|---|---|---|
| Yellowjacket | 286 of 320 | $0.50 |
| Claude Opus alone | 284 of 320 | $4.41 |
At volume that is the difference between about $551 and $193 a month for 10,000 contracts.
Why the cheap models can be trusted here
A model that claims a clause must quote it, and software checks the quote is in the contract. Two different models read each contract; when they disagree a stronger model reads it again. A model that says "two conflicting notice periods" has its periods counted by code.
How it works
- A top model plans the job once. Claude Opus looks at a few samples and writes the instructions, the checks and the arithmetic. You pay for that once per kind of job, and the plan is kept for next time.
- Cheap models do the reading. A short tryout picks the cheapest open models that pass the job's checks; they read every document. Sums, dates and comparisons are done in code, not by a model.
- Every answer is checked. Totals have to reconcile and two different models have to agree. When they don't, a stronger model reads it again; only real disagreements go back to the top model.
- You get a receipt. Before the job you see what Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini would each charge alone; after it, what each document cost and which checks it passed.
Questions people ask
How accurate is AI contract review?
On 80 lawyer-labelled CUAD contracts Yellowjacket agreed with the lawyers on 286 of 320 answers (89%), slightly more than Claude Opus alone (284). It is a first pass for a lawyer to check, not legal advice.
Is my contract data private?
Names, emails, addresses and account numbers are swapped for placeholders before any model sees them and put back in your answer, and the models run only on providers that keep nothing and don't train on it.
What file types work?
PDF (including scans), Word, Excel, CSV, text and images; or connect Google Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox or Box read-only.
What does it cost?
You see the price before it runs: 35% of what the cheapest top model would charge to do the same job alone.
