Extract data from contracts to Excel

Add a folder of contracts, list the terms you need in plain words, and download a spreadsheet with one row per contract. Every answer that claims a clause has to quote it, and software checks the quote is really in the contract.

What you can pull out

  • Parties, effective date, term and renewal
  • Termination rights and notice periods
  • Governing law and jurisdiction
  • Change of control, assignment, exclusivity and non-compete
  • Liability caps, indemnities, payment terms
  • Anything else you can describe, in your own words

From contracts to a spreadsheet

  1. Add the contracts: PDF (scans too), Word or text files, or a link to a shared file.
  2. Say what you need: pick "Contract key terms" from the ready-made work orders or write your own list of fields.
  3. Check the price before it runs, then let it run.
  4. Download as Excel: one sheet per table, one row per contract and one column per field, or a Word report. Text that starts with = is saved as text, never as a formula.

CUAD is a public set of commercial contracts labelled by lawyers. Opus did better on renewal terms, Yellowjacket on non-compete and change-of-control clauses. Yellowjacket's $0.50 includes $0.26 of planning, paid once for this kind of job. Costs are what the AI models billed us, not your price.

Why the answers can be trusted

Cheap models do the reading, so each answer is checked: a quoted clause must exist in the contract, two different models read each contract, and when they disagree a stronger model reads it again and the majority stands. Anything still unsettled is listed for you rather than guessed. It is a first pass for a person to check, not legal advice.

What it costs

You pay 35% of what the cheapest top AI model would charge to do the same job alone, or our AI cost plus 25% when that is higher, shown before it runs. For 10,000 contracts a month that is about $551 with Claude Opus alone against about $105 on Yellowjacket (the Opus figure measured on 80 contracts and scaled up). The plan is kept, so the next batch of the same kind skips the planning.

Questions people ask

How do I extract data from contracts to Excel?

Upload the contracts to the work desk, list the fields you want (for example governing law, renewal term and notice period), run the job and click Download as Excel. You get one row per contract.

How accurate is AI contract data extraction?

On 80 CUAD contracts labelled by lawyers, 286 of 320 answers agreed with the lawyers (89%), against 284 for Claude Opus alone. Opus was better on renewal terms; Yellowjacket on non-compete and change of control.

Can it read scanned contracts?

Yes. Scanned PDFs and photos are read too, though the contract test above used text contracts.

Is my contract data private?

Names, emails, addresses and account numbers are swapped for placeholders before any AI model sees them and put back in your results, and models run only on providers that keep no copy of the request.
